from Salvador Dali's Secret Life
The new Order of Bread, or ORB for short, dedicated to the deciphering of paint chips left by Dalinian dactyls, really began when each of the online Fornarinas chose a favorite loaf, prompted by Olivia's admission:
"Pumpernickel is a type of sourdough bread from Germany that is made with a combination of rye flour and rye meal (more coarsely ground than flour) and is very dark in color (in honor of Persephone & Black Madonnas everywhere). Pumpernickel is also about three times as dense as wheat bread. [Hah hah.]
"The word pumpernickel derives from the Old High German words pumpern, to fart, and Nickel, a demon or goblin.
"The weird thing is, Dali was highly intrigued by the act of...farting. He had recordings of famous farters and also was into researching Venetian courtesans who ate certain foods to produce pleasant aromas for their customers in the 17th-18th centuries. I know, how crass...but the connection cannot be merely coincidental." Pumpernickel Peyton
"I think I am sourdough bread. You see, in the beginning, some of my
thoughts might leave a sour taste in some mouths, but the finished
product is delicious."

Lucky K
"Hey, Miss O, Lucky K and Ravenna, just call me Wonder Bread - not to be confused with a popular brand of the same name." Komrade
"Our chef prepares lovely loaves daily, and my favorite is the poco rullo dell'aglio - or what I think the Americans would call a little garlic biscuit?"
Ravenna del Corvo
"R del C has her own cook!" Olivia thought, then typed, "I bet your hot cross heretical buns are better than holy water for keeping Vatican vampires at bay...hope I might visit Como and taste them one day." The moment after she hit send, the Pumpernickel regretted her lack of tact concerning the Church. "What if her uncle is a Cardinal or something - I'm such an idiot!"
