Miss Olivia was still under the Jackal's spell and he apparently was absorbed in regarding the heavens as they walked back to the house. Nearing Chāteau Gāteau, JC drew a long breath and stopped, putting a detaining hand on his intended victim's arm.

"Look!" he instructed. "Dusk is falling and the stars are beginning to shine. This really is a silent night, there is no doubt of that, and somehow it seems a holy one, too. A strange, ominous feeling has been growing within me every minute we have strolled along. Do you know how you could make this evening extra special for me, Olivia?"

"No," she whispered, almost afraid to ask.

"Tell me about the Book of Love! Where is it?" he prompted eagerly, eyes shining with avarice.

"The Book of Love written by Maria Magdalena? Why...I have no idea - honestly, I don't! Really, JC - think about it - that treasure has been hidden for centuries, it may not even be in France anymore. Besides, I'm looking for the Sybilline scrolls, you know that."

"Madeline told me differently - she showed me emails that you sent to her at the Hague! Do you deny the laws of synchronicity? I am VERY disappointed with you, Miss Olivia, for keeping such valuable information as pertains to a book that would save all of humanity to yourself. How selfish and typically Taurean of you, really!"

Anonymous Maria Magdalena "That is a great way for an Aquarian age soldier to talk! Don't twist things to make me out to be the bad one here - I have no idea what you are talking about! Maybe you and Maddie cooked this whole thing up - go back to Columba and amuse yourself with your wenches, you...you...jackass!" Olivia erupted, close to tears, unable to believe Juan Carlos' heartless criticism of her researches into history's mysteries.

"Or for any man to talk to you after all we've shared together these past four months...forgive me, dear little Sybil. And good-bye..."

"No! Don't go, JC...I lost my temper. Please forgive me," Olivia insisted, taking the Jackal's hand in her own. "Come here, we'll find that book together because now I see how good you truly are - how caring," whereupon Miss O kissed the assassin full on the mouth, pulling him downwards toward a green coverlet of moss.

"What a perfect place for two earth signs to be intimate," Don Juan grinned, not so much jubilant because he was about to seduce a lovely daughter of Athena, yet rather because he was of the opinion that the priceless Book of the Dove would soon be his.
